London’s Anu is an infectious kind of personality. Her un-dogmatic DJing and illustrations reflect the world around her in all its diverse glory. On her regular radio shows at both the BBC’s Asian Network and NTS, Anu can rope together stretches of progressive house and UK funky with a Wings track, or rub a vintage Bollywood singer like Asha Bhosle up against Gucci Mane. Nothing’s off limits. Her illustrations similarly comprise scribbled meditations on the people and moods that surround her on the street and the TV; a multimedia diary of Anu’s rich day-to-day.

Huddled in a circle on the dark, smoke-filled dancefloor at Corsica Studios, the four MCs that make up Bala Bala Boyz spit over syncopated bass-heavy rhythms, passing a single microphone between the collective's members. Captivating crowds with their energy, and an effortless ability to flow as a family unit, it’s on these South London dancefloors — as well as DIY festivals like Kallida and Boiler Room's four-day London takeover last year — that Bala Bala Boyz come alive.

Eclair Fifi’s new label, River Rapid, launches with Afrodeutsche EP

Eclair Fifi has tapped up Afrodeutsche for a four-track EP on new imprint, River Rapid.

The DJ and producer, who featured on Marie Davidson's remix package alongside Nina Kraviz in February this year, will release 'RR001' via River Rapid on 26th July.

Afrodeutsche provides a murky mix of electro, house and breaks on 'RR001', meticulously capturing the essence of heavy dancefloor heat and crediting afrobeat and jazz to the pace of the EP.

Music industry football teams to play Independent Music Cup in aid of War Child charity

The Independent Music Cup is back for its fifth year later this month, with 32 teams from across the music industry gearing up to compete to raise money for War Child.

The football tournament, founded and run by Ninja Tune (who will naturally be fielding a team), will see representatives from the likes of Warp Records, NTS, Boiler Room and ourselves here at DJ Mag, amongst many others, battling it out on the pitch all day on Saturday, July 27th. 

Bradley Zero locks Gilles Peterson, Ikonika, Mala, many more for XOYO residency

Rhythm Section founder, NTS resident and BBC Radio 1 regular Bradley Zero has announced a 12 week residency at London’s XOYO.

Running every Friday from 5th April to 21st June, Zero has locked an absolutely enormous line-up of live shows and club nights for the aptly titled Globetrotting series.

Underground Radio Directory collects independent online radio stations from around the world

A new website has been launched that collects independent online radio stations broadcasting around the world.

The Underground Radio Directory went live earlier this month, and currently hosts a total of 86 radio stations from 53 different cities spread across 28 countries around the world. The team behind the directory are welcoming new submissions for radio stations, and will continue to build the list of broadcasters.

Forbes reveals 30 Under 30 Music list

Forbes has revealed its 30 Under 30 Music list for the year ahead, ranking young Stateside chart toppers currently making big noises. 

The list includes electronic artists such as Madame Gandhi and rapidly rising Brooklyn-based Korean-American producer, artist, vocalist and NTS Radio regular Yaeji, whose EPs have garnered critical acclaim by combining house beats with East Asian lyricism.
