Montréal natives know how to party, and how to appreciate the fleeting months of warmth they experience every calendar year by taking advantage of their lakefront beaches. That’s where Beachclub comes in, a sprawling 5,000-person outdoor venue that knows what les habitants want and need — and provides it, from May to September. Situated on the sandy shores of Pointe-Calumet, it possesses a distinctly Balearic vibe with its cabanas and casual, bikini-clad attendees. Fittingly, Beachclub’s Ibiza festival is a popular attraction. The club’s 2017 season kicks off with NYC house icon Danny Tenaglia, Carnage and Will Sparks, while the following weekend gets a dose of heavy techno with Drumcode boss Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati and Carlo Lio. Big names continue to hit the sand throughout June, with the likes of Nicky Romero, Armin van Buuren, Duke Dumont and DVBBS. It seems there’s something for everyone’s ears at Beachclub; and if even if your favorite DJ isn’t on the line-up, who can say no to a bottle of champagne on a sparkling Canadian beach?

As Croatia has become more and more of a hotspot for clubbers, so its clubs have continued to evolve and accommodate them. One that has been standing out for years now is Noa, which is built from a series of interconnected platforms floating on the Adriatic in a natural, wood-heavy style. It is a luxury space with sun beds, VIP service, many pools and secluded private lounges as well as a main floor, an after-beach area and a chillout zone all supplied with sound by a D&B Audiotechnik system.

“There's certainly a special feeling in being a guest at our open-air club,” says the club's Tom. “At Noa you can literally meet the new dawn while partying away, all surrounded by a clear-blue sea.”

As for the soundtrack, maximal EDM stars like Steve Aoki and Skrillex have headlined this year, but Noa also places lots of focus on residents Aldo Morro, Robert MKC and Miss DJ Kay Dee. “With them we created a sense of familiarity with our guests that makes the ‘Noa experience’ a fulfilling one. Shortly put, they're very important to us since our visitors and residents are all one big family.”

Built from several interconnecting platforms bobbing in the Adriatic Sea, Noa Beach Club is a luxe Croatian beach club like no other. The platforms each host a range of different activities — including cocktail bars, day beds, a VIP area, several pools and even a few “private islands” and secluded lounges. During the daytime, visitors stick to the club's outer ring: there's a specially designed area for sunbathing, sea-jumping, and chilling by the water. It's at night fall that Noa really goes into overdrive — the club's main dancefloor is packed to bursting point almost every night throughout the summer.

Music-wise, Noa's booking policy is heavily EDM, with the club aiming to please a wide cross-section of European visitors. Last year saw Noa welcome huge EDM acts including Nervo, Dyro, Bassjackers and Klingand, with Steve Aoki, Bassjackers and Tujamo already confirmed for this year's 2016 season. Best bit of all? After you've finished thrashing about to the biggest tracks on Beatport all night long, you can jump straight off the side for a dip. Best be packing those bathers!
